Product Summary

The MAX2022 low-noise, high-linearity, direct conversionquadrature modulator/demodulator is designed for singleand multicarrier 1500MHz to 3000MHz UMTS/WCDMA,?LTE/TD-LTE, cdma2000, and DCS/PCS base-stationapplications. Direct conversion architectures are advanta-geous since they significantly reduce transmitter or receiv-er cost, part count, and power consumption as comparedto traditional IF-based double conversion systems. In addition to offering excellent linearity and noise perfor-mance, the MAX2022 also yields a high level of componentintegration. This device includes two matched passive mix-ers for modulating or demodulating in-phase and quadra-ture signals, three LO mixer amplifier drivers, and an LOquadrature splitter. On-chip baluns are also integratedto allow for single-ended RF and LO connections. As anadded feature, the baseband inputs have been matchedto allow for direct interfacing to the transmit DAC, therebyeliminating the need for costly I/Q buffer amplifiers.
